Clearing the Word Bookshelves

Do you have shelves that are full of outdated computer books, or is it just me?

I’m finally getting rid of some of the oldest, and dustiest books, like the Microsoft Word guides that you can see in the picture below.

It’s been years since any of them were opened (thank goodness!), and they’re about 5 pounds each, so it will certainly lighten the bookshelves when they’re gone.

And if you ever worked with WordBasic, you’ll understand why I’m not too sorry to toss that one! For one large project, I created hundreds of UserForms with it. Were they called Dialog Boxes in that version?

It wasn’t easy to find code examples online, way back then, so I had to invest heavily in printed guides. Then, halfway through the project, the company upgraded to Word 97, and I had to redo everything in VBA – and buy more books. Good times!

Word VBA is still around, but I won’t keep the Word 2000 Developer’s Handbook either.
